Aluminium Fasteners are lightweight fastening components manufactured from aluminium and aluminium alloys for applications requiring low weight, corrosion resistance, non-magnetic properties and good strength-to-weight performance. They are available as aluminium bolts and nuts, screws, stud bolts, threaded rods, heavy hex head bolts and socket head cap screws. Common aluminium alloys include 5052, 6061 and 7075, with the appropriate alloy and temper selected according to strength, corrosion resistance and application requirements.
We supply aluminium fasteners in different sizes, thread configurations, alloy grades and finishes for industrial, marine, electrical, architectural and engineering applications.
What Are Aluminium Fasteners?
Aluminium fasteners are mechanical fastening components manufactured from aluminium or aluminium alloys. They are used to join, secure and assemble components while keeping the overall weight of the assembly low.
Compared with conventional steel fasteners, aluminium offers a much lower density. Common aluminium alloys used in engineering applications have densities around 2.6–2.8 g/cm³, depending on the alloy. For example, 6061 is around 2.7 g/cm³ and 7075 around 2.8 g/cm³.
This makes aluminium useful for applications where weight reduction is an important design consideration.
The final fastener selection should consider alloy, temper, dimensions, thread design, tightening requirements, operating temperature and environmental exposure.

Aluminium Fastener Material Grades
The alloy has a major influence on the performance of an aluminium fastener.
Aluminium 5052
5052 is an aluminium-magnesium alloy known for useful corrosion resistance and formability. ASTM B211 lists magnesium at 2.2–2.8% for 5052, with aluminium as the balance.
It can be considered for applications where corrosion resistance and fabrication characteristics are important.
Aluminium 6061
6061 is one of the most widely used engineering aluminium alloys. It contains magnesium and silicon as its primary alloying elements and offers a practical combination of strength, corrosion resistance and machinability.
6061-T6 is commonly referenced when higher strength is required. Typical published values for 6061-T6 include tensile strength around 310 MPa and yield strength around 276 MPa, although actual fastener values depend on the product form and specification.
Aluminium 7075
7075 is a high-strength aluminium-zinc alloy. It is selected when strength-to-weight performance is more important than the corrosion resistance and weldability advantages associated with 6061.
Typical 7075-T6 values are around 572 MPa tensile strength and 503 MPa yield strength for common bar/plate references.

Anodized Aluminium Fasteners
Anodized aluminium fasteners have a controlled oxide layer produced through an electrochemical surface-treatment process.
Anodizing can improve surface hardness, wear resistance and finish consistency. It is particularly useful for architectural, electrical, outdoor and equipment applications.
6061 is often a practical choice when anodizing is important because it offers good anodizing characteristics. However, the final appearance and performance depend on alloy, temper and anodizing process.
High Strength Aluminium Fasteners
High Strength Aluminium Fasteners are designed for applications where weight reduction must be combined with higher mechanical performance.
7075 is a common choice for high-strength aluminium components. Its tensile and yield strengths are substantially higher than typical 6061-T6 reference values.
However, aluminium fasteners should not simply replace steel fasteners based on tensile strength alone. Joint preload, thread stripping, bearing stress, temperature, corrosion and galvanic compatibility should all be evaluated.
Marine Grade Corrosion Resistant Aluminium Screws
Marine Grade Corrosion Resistant Aluminium Screws can be used where low weight and corrosion resistance are required in outdoor or marine-related assemblies.
Aluminium naturally develops a protective oxide layer, but marine environments require additional consideration. Direct contact between aluminium and dissimilar metals can create galvanic corrosion under suitable electrolyte conditions.
For marine assemblies, we recommend considering:
- Compatible aluminium alloy
- Surface finish
- Galvanic isolation
- Environmental exposure
- Washer and mating-material selection
- Joint design
- Required service life
